ARAGON SBK: VERY COLD FOR A SPRING WEEKENDIN SPAIN BUT A VERY HOT TRACK FOR THE EUROPEAN DUBUT!

First up in Europe was Aragon, a fast track to get everyone up to speed.

A return to form for Chaz Davies! Double podium for him, with two fantastic efforts this weekend. Good to see him back where he belongs finally, a long way to fight back, but it’s a long season. More difficult for Melandri however, still searching for his form on the new bike.

Yet another podium finish for Federico Caricasulo in Supersport, in a race he fought for until the very end.

Next up? The Assen TT Circuit, where temperatures may be even colder, but at least we expect it. We hope for another successful weekend for Nolan Group riders. See you there!

SUPERBIKE

Chaz Davies Race1 THIRD

“I’m really satisfied with today’s result, more so for my team and my side of the garage than me, because they’ve been working so hard all through the winter. It’s not easy when things are not going so well, but we’re always working hard looking for answers and trying our best whether its tenth or here on the podium. I had a nice battle with Johnny and Alex, I really enjoyed it. It felt like I probably had better pace but I wasn’t able to get out of the group. I had a couple of issues at the end of the race that kept me out of the fight for second otherwise things were quite solid with the guys running for the podium this season.”

Leon Camier Race1 ELEVENTH

“Eleventh is far from what we are aiming for, but at least today’s race was an improvement on the other sessions we’ve completed here in Aragon. We actually didn’t change very much in terms of the bike’s setup, just making some little adjustments with the geometry and gearing but it was a step forward. Of course, we still have a great margin for improvement and today’s race was positive also for the fact that I understood a few more things while fighting with the other guys on track. We know we must keep working hard and we’ll always give it our best.”

Marco Melandri Race1 TWELFTH

"In Superpole, on the race tyre, it wasn't so bad, but we definitely had some issues in the race. We changed a bit the set-up to try and find more speed, but then the engine braking was not so good and my feeling with the bike was worse than before, so I couldn't stop the bike. In the corners the bike felt very high in the front and I had no grip, so the bike didn't want to turn. It was difficult but, for sure, my potential here is much better than this and for that reason I'm happy to race again tomorrow."

Chaz Davies Superpole Race FOURTH - Race 2 THIRD

“It was a strong weekend for me, but I’m a bit disappointed about losing second place in Race 2. At the start of the last lap, I went in deep at Turn 1 and left the door open for Johnny, after which there wasn’t much chance of getting it back. At any rate, I was happy to back up yesterday’s result with another third position. It wasn’t easy in the wind, but we worked well this weekend to make big progress and I hope to build on that next weekend at Assen.”

Michael Ruben Rinaldi Race2 NINTH

"In Race 2 I had to fight against the pain more than against my opponents. I was able to grit my teeth thanks to the team that provided me with a great bike. In spite of everything, I also shot on good times.

I am sure that if we had been a bit more lucky in the Superpole Race we could have played far more important positions. Overall we expected more than what we collected, but today's race makes me confident about Assen."

SUPERSPORT

Federico Caricasulo THIRD

"It was a good race and the only negative note concerns the tire wear, on which we must also work as regards my driving style. In the first few laps I tried to run away but I knew immediately that it wouldn't be possible. Later I kept my pace and stayed in the leading group, but in the end the bike slipped a lot and I struggled to stay with them. Third place is not the desired result, but let us take these points and look ahead. We are only in the third race. I thank my team that helped me a lot ”.
