Donington SBK: Our riders continue to do a great job!

Race 1, a fantastic Marco Melandri (Nolan X-802) stormed to first place with a heartfelt performance and showed the determination of a real champion despite feeling slightly off colour with a temperature.  Starting from a fairly low 9th position on the grid he was able to concentrate and keep his pace to gain second position.  From there he started his final assault eventually take first position and his first victory in World Superbike.

Carlos Checa (X-lite X-802) took an excellent third position. Starting from pole he found himself caught up with the middle of the field when he experienced some grip problems with his rear tyre.  However, as the race commenced he waited patiently until he had enough ‘gas’ to push for the front and finally achieved a terrific third position.  Last but not least, Ayrton Badovini (X-lite X-802) achieved a good, solid, 13th position.

In Race 2 Carlos Checa, thanks to the right tyre choice, made a really good start and controlled this advantage to the end of the race, making the job look easy even though the race had its fair share of difficulties. This was the third victory for our ‘Raging Bull’.

Marco Melandri’s second race proved he was in fine shape too and he was able to use his success in Race 1 to achieve another wonderful second position in Race 2.  Ayrton Badovini moved up to take 9th position in the second race.  Also a good result in Supersport with David Salom taking 6th position.

Checa retains his number one spot in the 2011 World Standings and Melandri gains ground with a brilliant second position.

Next race Assen (Netherlands), April 17th.
