Laguna Seca SBK. Victory for Melandri in race 1.

A resolute Marco Melandri rode an intelligent race – he waited for the right moment to force pace and pulled away from all his opponents. He went on to win race one of the United States Grand Prix at Laguna Seca. He was unlucky in race two as he prepared to win again. The race was stopped in total three times. The race was stopped after a few laps for the crash of some riders while he was second. At the restart, when he was leading, the race was stopped again for the crash of Silvayn Barrier.  Again leading after the third restart it was his time to crash when the second victory seemed within his reach.
In race 1 Chaz Davies crashed while Salom, Canepa, Barrier, Staring Guarnoni e Camier (replacing Corti) respectively are from 10th al 15th place.
In race 2, crashed Melandri, Canepa, Barrier and Davies (not started), the first of our riders was Salom eight.  Camier, Guarnoni and Staring placed  10th, 11th and 12th. Badovini and Iddon, 8th and 9th under the checkered flag, as always for Bimota, are subject to homologation so not classified.

In championship Melandri still fifth.
Next race in Jerez the september 7th.

Very good race for Simone Corsi in Moto2 on the podium (3rd) in Sachsenring.

“My start in Race 1 was great even if I was a bit nervous in the first laps since Tom usually tries to pull the pin straight away. When he made that mistake at the Corkscrew I thought that was the right opportunity to push it to the limit. I set my pace, staying focused and not making any mistakes.  Only in the last few laps was I finally able to breath a little easier since I had gained a bit of an advantage over Sylvain. This was a great race. The RSV4 worked wonderfully and the team did an impeccable job. It's a shame about Race 2. I made a few gear changing mistakes on the third start that made me think there was a problem with the ratios and that cost me my concentration. When I realised that everything was fine I decided to push hard but I went long at the last turn. I'm disappointed because a double win was definitely within reach, but I'm still happy about the work we did this weekend.”

“It was a strange crash as I didn’t feel like I was doing anything different to normal. The rear just came around on me and I fell awkwardly on my head. It seems as if the doctors made a decision based on the fact that I was dizzy and disorientated. A huge disappointment because I feel ok and wanted to race of course. Anyway it’s ultimately the doctors decision but a really disappointing end to what started out as such a positive weekend.”
