Le Mans Moto3: Astonishing race for Bastianini and Kent.

The Moto3 race in Le Mans was spectacular! Both our top riders, Bastianini and Kent, started from the back of the grid, and after a strong couple of laps, had soon reached leading group. They were  able to fight, till the last lap, for the victory, but unfortunately missed by a nose. Bastianini’s second position and the fourth of Danny Kent reinforces their position in the Championship. Danny is still leading and Enea is second.
Good race in MotoGP for Danilo Petrucci who gets the Top Ten (10th) while Melandri keeps hoping for new parts for his Aprilia to improve his performance (18th).
Next race the 31st of May in Mugello

“It was not an easy race: starting back I had to push hard to make up positions and therefore the tyres went down a lot. On the penultimate lap I was in the fight for the victory, but I lost control of the rear, losing two positions. Obviously in the last lap the other riders pushed really hard and it was difficult to recover positions, so all in all I’m satisfied with second place; it’s a good result for me and for the team. In the last two races we had some ups and downs, but during the Jerez test we were able to solve our problems: now my front end feeling is improved and I can ride really well my bike. I believe that from now on we can be able to be more consistent”.

“This feels like a victory after starting down in P31. We knew it would be a tough race but I managed the opening laps very well and as soon I got my rhythm, step by step, I came closer to the front. But I’d pushed my rear tyre pretty much to catch the group. If we’d had a good qualifying I think I had the pace to pull away again, but with today’s fourth place we gained valuable championship points, and most important extend our lead to 37 points. I think we can be happy with the outcome of this weekend.”

“It was a weekend full of satisfaction. I have achieved all the goals I set myself from the qualifying to the race. I wish it could stay even closer to Yonny but in the first half of the race, with a full tank, I always meet some difficulties. I regret not being able to maintain the position in the duel with Vinales but the rear tyre was really finished. But this does not affect the evaluation of a very positive weekend. I just have to make that small step that I am still missing. I have to thank the whole team that is working in this direction. Next stop Mugello, a race that I want to enjoy. I will be in front of my home fans and I hope I can do a good race.“

Marco Melandri Nolan X-802R
“It was a difficult weekend where I never found the right feeling with the bike. Then today in the race the problems with the gearbox made things more complicated and slowed me down, so I wasn't able to do much better. It's a shame. After Jerez we could have done better, but now we'll try to put it behind us quickly and think about Mugello, our home round.”
