The new helmet represents the return of
the brand to the world of professional off-road motoring.
Maggiora, 23 September 2016 - After 30 years, the Motocross of
Nations returns to Maggiora, and Nolangroup is taking advantage of this
international appointment to present the main novelty of 2017: X-502, the off-road racing helmet in
composite fibre, which marks the return of X-lite
to the world of high-level off-road motoring. With the arrival of this model,
Nolangroup also announces a new program of rider sponsoring for the categories
of off-road, cross and Dakar which, as with MotoGp and Superbike, will place
the brand alongside names of international fame.
“It is a sector which we have only marginally cultivated over the
last few years, but with the arrival in 2015 of the Nolan polycarbonate model
N53, we realised that we could also create excellent products for off-road
motoring. Obviously the objective was to create a high-level helmet in
composite fibre. After two years of
development, the new X-502 was created, a concentration of technological
innovation and studied details that render it an avant garde helmet ready to
enrapture off-road professionals”, claimed
Alberto Vergani, President of the Nolangroup.
In the setting of Maggiora Park, the X-lite X-502 was
presented to the Italian and international press with the support of 4 brand
representatives: Marco Melandri, Massimo Bianconcini, Carlos Checa and
Alessandro Botturi, four riders from different backgrounds, representing the
various approaches to the world of off-road. Melandri and Checa keep themselves
in shape on cross circuits; Bianconcini is 3 times times Winner of the FMX STEP UP World
Championship; Botturi is 9 times Winner
of Enduro Italian Championship and he has two Dakar rallies under his belt.
Four important riders who, together with president Alberto Vergani, have
described and commented on all of the technical characteristics of this new
model.
The X-502
is characterised by an aggressive design and a wealth of technical
characteristics:
NOLAN EMERGENCY RELEASE
SYSTEM (NERS)
This allows emergency teams
to remove the cheek pads from the helmet while it is still being worn by the
motorcyclist by simply pulling the red tapes attached to the front of the pads
themselves.
ULTRAWIDE WINDOW
The particularly ample
window allows a wider range of vision and adapts to various types of glasses.
RAF (Racing Air Flow) ventilation - This is composed of:
- upper
air intakes two openings
positioned under the peak direct air, without dispersion, to the
upperhead area;
- front
air intakes thanks also to
the contribution of the side channels, two openings positioned under the peak
direct air, without dispersion,
to the front of the head.
Two additional openings are located in the forehead area;
- a chin
guard air intake fitted
with a fixed external filter (in metal netting) and a second removable
inner filter, it ensures ventilation to the mouth area;
- air
extractors located on the
upper part of the helmet, on its back and in line with the rear base
edge and sideways on the helmet, they allow for the expulsion of hot and
stale air, thus guaranteeing maximum comfort inside the helmet.
PEAK WITH AN ADJUSTABLE
EXTENDED ADDITIONAL PEAK
The peak can be regulated
to various positions by rotating it upwards or downwards. It is also fitted
with an extended peak which is adjustable to three positions.
“CARBON FITTING RACING
EXPERIENCE” INNER COMFORT PADDING
The liner, with an
innovative net construction, assists the movement of air around the upper part
of the head which thus stays cool and dry. The inner padding furthermore is
made up of side cheek pads (left and right) and lining straps which are all
completely removable and washable.
CHEEK PADS
To further facilitate the
washing, the cheek pads are equipped with expanded foam inner padding which can
be taken out from the fabric covering.
EYEWEAR ADAPTIVE
Exclusive system designed
for the comfort of eyeglass wearers. In a quick and easy way, it allows to
obtain a space in the cheek pads for the glasses temples. It is
reversible, so the cheek
pads can be returned to the initial configuration.
READY FOR “CAMEL BAG” WATER
SYSTEM
The helmet is ready for the
installation of a water system (not supplied) and the fitting of the relative
tube. It therefore is fitted with:
- a side
tube-holding strip, positioned on the “READY FOR CAMEL BAG” tape and useful for
holding the water system tube;
- a flexible
housing on the lower edge of the inner chin guard to allow the positioning of
the end of the tube with the suction valve near to the mouth.
The X-502 is also present in the new 2017 Nolangroup catalogue in
an ULTRA CARBON version, with a high carbon content for those looking for an
even lighter helmet with an aggressive look.
The return in grand style of the brand to this sector is also
supported by the presence of the Nolangroup truck in Maggiora for the entire
duration of the event, a presence that underlines the desire of the brand to
let the mud experts get hands-on experience with the new X-502 straight away.
