MotoGP, Jerez: X-802 on the podium again with Lorenzo and his first place.

Jorge Lorenzo’s win on Sunday capped an incredible result: an unbeatable 6 victories in 6 races in the two major racing categories! After 4 victories in SBK (3 for Checa and 1 for Melandri) and Stoner’s win in the Qatar opening race in MotoGP, this time it was Jorge Lorenzo’s turn to shine in a very difficult edition of  the Jerez race. He had to be patient, clever and brave to get to the end of a race so full of surprises.

The weekend started with an excellent Casey Stoner (Nolan X-802) in the lead and a tenacious Lorenzo fighting for the first positions and ended up with a Pole for the Australian and a third place on the grid for the Spaniard. But rain “shuffled the cards” on Sunday: Stoner after a perfect start, was slowing down a little due to a drop in tyre pressure and had lost some positions when he came into collision with Rossi. Valentino, attempting a manoeuvre going into turn one, lost control of his bike and caused the unsuspecting Casey to come to a premature halt. Too bad!

A slippery road surface and Bridgestone’s wrong choice of tyres caused many incidents but it was Lorenzo’s day, he made no mistakes and thoroughly deserved the unexpected but very welcomed victory.

A good 10th position was achieved for Neukirchner in Moto2.
An honourable mention to our X-802, it supported our riders brilliantly despite very difficult climate conditions.

Lorenzo now leads the championship with Stoner in Third.

Next race Estoril (Portugal), April 29th.
