MOTOGP: IN PORTIMAO A BETTERSWEET RACE FOR NOLANGROUP RIDERS

The first European race brought joy and delusions to our riders.

Aron Canet scored his first podium in Moto2, a second place in his third race in this class. The Spaniard fought and risked ... and in the end he came one step away from victory.

In MotoGP it didn't go so well. Danilo Petrucci scored his very first points on his new bike but still a lot of work to do while Alex Rins crashed when he was fighting for the win.

In the end, it must be said that even if things didn't go perfectly, our guys are growing in competitiveness and quality of performance. And this means that we could soon celebrate very important results!

MOTOGP

DANILO PETRUCCI 13°

"To be honest, the race was not too interesting for me. I was fighting and made some passes, but at the end, I couldn’t pass Marini. We are still not in our best condition, we have to improve our setup. I am gaining a lot of experience though. At least, we got some points and this is important for the mood. I would like to thank all my team, because they are doing a great job. For me it’s still a new experience, but I know we have the potential to be closer to the front, but for this we have to work a lot. We have some ideas for Jerez and I’m looking forward to race there."

ALEX RINS DNF

"Of course I'm a bit disappointed. I was behind Fabio and I was pushing and going to the limit, but it felt like a good limit and I didn’t feel like I was over the limit at any point. I was managing it all well; the tyres, the breathing, the pace, everything. We checked the data after the crash and I had done everything the same, so it was strange to crash. But anyway, I had a good feeling all weekend and although it’s a shame that I couldn’t finish with a trophy, at least I know I have very good pace and the bike works well. My team and I know that if we can keep the same way of working into Jerez, we can have a very nice result."

MOTO2

ARON CANET 2°

"It is one of the happiest days of my life, along with the day I got my first Moto3 podium. I will never forget it. It's time to enjoy, not every day you get to finish second in Moto2. I can’t articulate words. We fought from the beginning, we lost positions, we stayed calm, we fought and we finished on the podium. It is the third race of the year and we have reached the goal we had in mind at the start of the season. We have a good set-up and in Jerez we will continue this same line."
