MOTOGP MISANO: A HAPPY HOMERACE WITH A THOUGHT TO THE EARTHQUAKE

The weekend of the home-race, in Misano, went smoothly for the Nolan Group riders, who, as usual, fought inch by inch on one of the most beautiful racetracks in the world. There was a brilliant second place for Enea Bastianini, who was tucked right behind the winner after an exciting race, and there was a fifth position for Jakub Kornfeil, who was the protagonist throughout the whole race. In moto 2, Hafizh Syahrin reached 7th place - the Malaysian talent is always very close to the leaders. Danilo Petrucci finished just outside the top ten (despite a great race). Yet the Italian won the ideal charity GP. He demonstrated his care for his troubled land, which was shaken by the earthquake, and payed tribute to his native country through powerful words painted on his X-RR 802, implying that even in the middle of battle ‘’there is room for charity". The helmet will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to charity. Find out more about Danilo Petrucci and Nolan Group initiative!

"It has been harder than I expected. In the race we have improved a little but not enough. I wanted to do better here, at the home Grand Prix, and I am sorry. Tires? Yesterday Jorge Lorenzo made the circuit's record and today those in front have been very fast, so, obviously, we did not understand how to exploit them at the best. I took some points and this is a good thing. I would like to thank the team for how they are working. It is good to be with them."

"I achieved my position in this race with a solid race pace. I was thrown into the 16th position and then I decided to try to go all in so I started doing good laps until the tires started to give me problems, then I moved on the rear shock to have more grip. In the end it went quite well, after all... I'll try to give my best in the next  occasions. "

Enea Bastianini 2nd

“Binder maintained a good pace throughout the race, and today he really made the difference. When I was following him closely, maybe it could appear that it was easy for me, but only because I didn’t want to pass him in the long straight to not break the rhythm: by doing so we were able to open a gap on the other riders. Later, in the final stages of the race, I passed Binder to take the lead, but then he was good to pass me again, winning the race. Too bad only for the final attack: I felt strong enough in the last corner, and after his pass I was already thinking to fight back on that corner. Brad was good to close the inside line though, and it was not possible to pass. Now I’m second in the championship: Binder is far away, so the goal is to keep the second position, but as long as we have a possibility, we will always try to attack, till the end!”.

Jakub Kornfeil 5th

“Today I went into the race with a winning mentality. I really wanted to fight for the podium. Unfortunately the way the race went this became more and more difficult. During a race there is always one moment where the leading riders want to pull away and I missed this; at this time I was in fourth place and fighting with Locatelli and he passed me. This was the most important moment during the race and the reason why we didn’t finish on the podium today. Nevertheless I enjoyed it a lot today; I had some good battles and the bike was working very well, so I’m very happy for this. We just need to stay where we are and keep up the hard work. Thanks to team and all the people who came here to support me.”
