At the Paddock Show of the Nevers Magny-Cours racing circuit, playing host to the penultimate race of the 2014 Superbike World Championship, Nolangroup presented today the new X-802R ULTRA CARBON Superbike Official Helmet. On the stage were Marco Melandri, Alberto Vergani (Nolangroup) and Marc Saurina (Dorna WSBK).
This is how Alberto Vergani, Nolangroup President, began: “We are pleased to announce an agreement with Dorna for the Superbike helmet licence, which will complement our MotoGP licence. Nolangroup is the only company in the world to have both helmet licences in the two biggest World Championships: modified production and prototypes”. He went on to say: “Our helmets have been designed and produced 100% in Italy for 42 years and are sold in 72 countries worldwide. This latest development cements our participation in Superbike with 18 sponsored riders, led by Marco Melandri and Chaz Davies (representing Nolan and X?lite, respectively).”
Dorna WSBK Commercial and Mktg Director Marc Saurina continued: "This partnership with Nolangroup is a great pleasure for us. It confirms and reinforces the great relationship between Dorna and this Italian company. The new official Superbike helmet means design and security, the same features choosen by our champions during the race. We are sure that it will have a great success with our fans because they are always very near to their idols, as in the nature of this Championship.”
This launch also provided the opportunity to show an international audience the new Nolangroup film entitled: “Ultralight test”. In racing scenes filmed from the ground and the air, the elite riders Marco Melandri and Carlos Checa appraise the performance of the X-802R Ultra Carbon helmet.

Technical characteristics
X-802R ULTRA CARBON is a model specifically designed for riders who love the racetrack and the high speed just like real Champions. The shell -ultralight and high in carbon fibre- is available in three different fits for the six available helmet sizes (XS-S / M-L / XL-XXL).
X-802R ULTRA CARBON features a removable inner UNITHERM padding and offers unrivalled levels of "racing" comfort. The removable cheek pads in the highly successful STEADYFIT configuration provide once again excellent comfort even under conditions of substantial pressure on the cheeks -which is essential for keeping the helmet steady even at high speeds during track use. The cheek pads are also available in differential thicknesses to ensure the best possible fit.
X-802R ULTRA CARBON visor is very large and has an excellent rotational mechanism, which benefits all movements for opening, closing, and application of the Pinlock® inner fog-resistant visor (supplied). The curved outer surface model is equipped with this system, also available as an optional accessory for the flat surface model pre-set for tear-off visor fitting. The visor is completed by the rotational mechanism that has equipped all Nolan full-face helmets for a number of years: the DUAL ACTION device. The DUAL ACTION is a lightweight, reliable device with a tool-free quick release visor mechanism and a 4 mm window trim adjustment. It serves a twofold purpose:
• Locks the visor, to prevent it from accidentally opening at high speeds
• Defogs the visor, when opened slightly at low speeds or at rest
An innovative adjustable aerodynamic spoiler is integrated in the rear part of the shell. The product of extensive wind tunnel testing and vast racetrack experience, the new spoiler optimises the helmet's aerodynamics during riding, improving stability at high speeds and helping the venting of hot air from the interior through outlet vents integrated directly in the spoiler. Its profile, and thus its aerodynamic performance, can be adjusted to one of two available configurations to better suit different riding positions and styles.
X-802R ULTRA CARBON offers the most complete and effective ventilation system ever designed for a helmet. In additions to the ASD (Adjustable Stability Device) mentioned before -the innovative rear spoiler that integrates permanent extraction of hot air from inside the helmet- X-802R ULTRA CARBON features:
