Phillip Island SBK: finally the Championship starts again! 2nd place for Chaz Davies in Race1

It was an exciting start to the season for our #nolanriders in Australia during the first race of the 2016 Superbike World Championship. Chaz Davies gained an extraordinary second place in Race1: the Welshman missed the victory by only 63 thousandths of a second. Unfortunately in Race 2, Chaz Davies crashed out with a few corners left to go, but he got up again and finished in 10th place. Congratulations to our standard bearer who always wears our X-lite X-802RR. Nothing to say about the great seventh place of Camier in Race1 and about Lorenzo Savadori- who gained a 12th place in his debut race. #Nolanriders on the podium (also in Supersport 600 championship) were Federico Caricasulo, who obtained an unexpected second place. Come on #nolanriders- see you in Thailand!

“It was a fun battle, with many hard but fair moves. I planned to pass Rea in turn 10, but he widened his line just a bit and I was forced to get into the corner a bit too tight. I was already on the limit with the front tyre and I had to release the brakes for a moment, so he passed me again. Still, I’m very happy. Compared with last year, we’ve made big improvements with the electronics and I was much more comfortable towards the end of the race. The battle with Rea could have gone either way, and now I’ll think of a new strategy with the team. The goal is to go one better tomorrow.”

Usually I’m able to brake pretty deep, but this time unfortunately I found the limit of the front tyre. I knew it was a risky move, and ideally I wouldn’t have had to try it, but unfortunately Rea erased the small gap I built on the straight. Anyway, I’m not disappointed about my race. We fought for the victory in both races and the bike showed much improvement since last year, especially with the electronics. We just need a bit more top speed.”

Federico Caricasulo SS 600: 2°
“I came here in Australia to make my best, but I’m astonished for what we did. We improved each time we joined the fray. An improvement who brought us on the podium. The race was amazing, I was able to manage the tyres and I used them during the last laps, when I overtook the two riders before me. In the last sector I was very fast during all the week end and the key of the race was there, because I took advantage of this factor. The bike was perfect and the power helped me a lot. I dedicate this podium to the team who always trusts in me, to my family, to my girlfriend and to my sponsors, because without them nothing would have been happened!”
