Congratulations to World Champion Jorge Lorenzo who wrote Game Over on a notice showing it to the millions of racing fans who watched him celebrate his championship win with his friends all dressed up like Super Mario Bros.
This was a fantastic result for Lorenzo and a perfect achievement for his X-lite X-802, finishing third on the Sepang podium which handed him the World title with three races still to go.
A glorious win after 13 podiums, 7 wins, 4 second position, 2 thirds, 2 fourths and all obtained with a brilliant performance throughout the season.
Our compliments to Jorge who wearing his X-802 made X-lite and the Nolan Group achieve and enjoy the highest position in MotoGP. Thanks to Lorenzo and thanks to Yamaha. Thanks to the Team and to the Racing Service guys, including all Nolan Group employees who made it possible with their truly superb help and support.
The race at Sepang was hard with hot and humid weather conditions but the X-802, with its perfect ventilation, helped our riders keep cool.
As earlier stated, Lorenzo, starting from Pole position, opted for a safe ride to guarantee the championship and decided to settle for 3rd position rather than chase for the win which may have proved risky.
Unfortunately pushing for the win caused disaster for Casey Stoner who crashed out due to cold tyres. Marco Melandri had a good race but only finished in 9th position due to braking problems which seem to have plagued him throughout the season.
With the championship now over, we look forward to a great race on 7th October in Phillip Island on Casey’s home circuit.
